Getting started

Timeora is a time tracking and project management app for Microsoft Teams. It records what people work on, turns that into project and client reporting, and gives managers the numbers they need without a separate spreadsheet.

Timeora runs as a Teams tab and in the Microsoft 365 app host. Your organisation may also publish a direct link such as app.timeora.io.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and select Timeora in the app bar or the Apps menu.
  2. If you do not see it, open the app store for your organisation and install Timeora.
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account when prompted.

The first visit creates your user record in your organisation’s Timeora tenant and takes you to Home. Your tenant is the workspace your organisation’s data lives in — everybody signs in to the same tenant, and data is never shared between tenants.

Concept What it is
Time entry A recorded block of work with a start time, duration, project and activity.
Project The customer-facing container that work is billed to.
Activity The kind of work inside a project, such as development, design or a meeting.
Client The organisation a project belongs to; used in reporting and invoicing.
Work time account Your balance of worked time against the expected schedule.
Role A named set of permissions that decides which actions you can take.
  1. Open Time tracker in the navigation.
  2. Select a project and an activity for the work you are about to do.
  3. Start the timer, or add the time entry manually with a start time and duration.
  4. Add a short note so the entry still makes sense when the report is read weeks later.
  5. Stop the timer when you are done.

The timer view shows the current week by default. Use the date range selection to look at a different period, and open Reports from the same module when you need the numbers rather than the entries.

  • Time tracking — timer, punch clock, work time accounts and absences.
  • Work management — projects, activities, clients and tasks.
  • Reporting & export — per-project, per-client, per-user and per-team reports.
  • Accounting — invoices built from tracked work.
  • CRM — accounts, contacts, deals and sales reporting.
  • Administration — users, teams, roles and settings.

Which of these you can see depends on two things: the licence tier your organisation has, and the role you hold. Roles and permissions explains the difference.
