Administration

Administration covers everything that applies to the whole organisation rather than to a single person: who is a member, what each role may do, and how Timeora calculates working time and money.

Roles turn permissions into something a person can hold. Timeora ships three built-in roles — User, Manager and Administrator — and lets you add more.

Changing a role affects every person who holds it. If only one person should gain a right, create a role for that person instead of widening an existing one.

Three settings have a direct effect on reports and work time accounts:

  • Currency changes how amounts are displayed and stored in documents.
  • Working time and breaks decide expected hours and how long shifts are counted.
  • Public holidays reduce expected time, which is why a holiday does not create a negative balance.

Change them deliberately, and tell the people affected. A change applies to calculations from that point on; historical documents keep the values they were created with.

Most administration pages require an administrator role. Users & teams opens with users.read, which managers also hold, so managers can maintain their people without gaining settings access. Saving roles requires administration.roles.update.
